The Grandeur of Tinuy-an Falls

The name itself sounds uncommon to most of us I guess.  When this falls was spoken to me, I paid no special attention at it for I was not able to read any interesting facts about it.  In short, it was a total stranger to me.  However, considering that it is within the area where our first destination place is located, I gave a nod when the idea of exploring this not so familiar place was brought up.

My expectation fell short when I saw this falls for the first time.  Precisely, the falls is beyond ordinary.  It is not within the definition of an ordinary falls one would think of.  One would get awed to seemingly unlimited stairs of falls.  Yes, there is not only one set of falls.  But, three stairs or sets of falls would welcome its visitors.  You would be amazed to these three sets of falls cascading one after another.

Below is a photo-teaser of what could be expected at Tinuy-an Falls.  It is touted as the 'Window to the World' accordingly.  I really do not know why.  Perhaps it is comparable to other world renown waterfalls like the Niagara Falls, though it is only a miniature in size and appearance.  In short Tinuy-an Falls is simply a world class.

This is what would welcome the visitors at the entrance of Tinuy-an Falls.  Never mind the publicity though.

But before you feast your eyes to the grandeur of Tinuy-an Falls, you would have to trudge the dirt road to cavalry.  Yes, you read it right.  It is hard to go there.  You have to pass this somewhat logging road in the forest.  However, you would be consoled with the verdant scenery along the way.  As the saying goes, you will see light at the end of the tunnel.  Thus, after the tedium of passing the dirty road, a magnificent waterfalls of Tinuy-an would surely cover up everything.  Of course, not to mention the steepness of the road.  In the photo below , you would see dozen of cars parked at the entrance of the falls.

This is the kind of road one would trudge into in going to this magnificent falls.

As what I mentioned that it requires a sacrifice in going to the waterfalls, it is literally applicable to this place.  You would forget what you would have gone through.  Simply, the beauty of the waterfalls is a work of art.  You would be mesmerized and you would be left in awe.  True, to its photo-teaser, the waterfalls consists of stairs.  There are three stairs of cascade.

What is more appealing is that the area is not touched so much with humans save to some structures that were built for the comfort of the visitors.  Aside from those, everything is really "nature at its best".  Thus, it is also a good place to expose our children to these natural water landscapes because nowadays, they rarely see this natural water park.

One could not just give in to dip in the cold water of Tinuy-an Falls.

Of course, for souvenir purposes, I pose with my daughter gwen.

We too have a moment of course.  Me and wife at the entrance of Tinuy-an Falls.

How to get there?

Considering that we have different places of origin, I would consider Davao City as our based place. So, how to get there? From Davao City, there are public utility vehicles that would bring you to the place of Tinuy-an Falls.  Available are public buses and vans.  It would take some 4 hours more or less of travel from Davao City to Bislig City.  As for the fare? I believe it is just only 400 pesos.

From Bislig City, you may contract a single motorcycle or locally known as habal-habal for a fare of 80 pesos.  This habal-habal would bring you to Tinuy-an Falls itself.

Where to Stay and Eat?

There is a resort built within the area of Tinuy-an Falls.  For just 500 pesos, you would a place to stay inside the resort.  As for the food, you could find vendors just outside the gate of the falls selling anything for raw to cooked food.  They would also prepare food according to your order.  So, choose and then they will cook for you.  They would even let you borrow their utensils in case you did not bring one.

So, what are you waiting for? Visit our very own Tinuy-an Falls and see the world.
