Philippine Standard Time Act of 2013

To have a very fruitful 2014, I guess, we have to start doing the right things.

Basic of these is to help campaign the government in promoting our very Philippine Standard Time.  As a matter of fact, a law has been signed by President Benigno S. Aquino on May 15, 2013 known as Philippine Standard Time (PST) Act of 2013 or otherwise known as Republic Act No. 10535.

Accordingly, all the national and local government offices shall display the Philippine Standard Time (PST) on their official time devices, including bundy clocks, in accordance with the official time being provided by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) using its network time protocol.

The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) shall require the participation of all government and private television and radio stations in order to ensure the synchronization of timekeeping devices can be  undertaken even in the most remote parts of the country.

The NTC shall have jurisdiction to enforce obedience to the provisions of this Act by writ of injunction or by other processes, mandatory or otherwise, restraining further violations of this Act and enjoining obedience thereto.

Owners of private television and radio stations who shall fail to calibrate and synchronized their time devices with the PST during their broadcast shall, upon hearing and due proceedings, be penalized  with a fine of not less than Thirty Thousand (P 30, 000.00) pesos but not more than Fifty Thousand (P 50, 000.00) pesos and in case of second offense, revocation and cancellation of their franchises to operate.

Hence, we too could help promote our Philippine Standard Time by synchronizing our own time devices with that what is provided by PAGASA.  And the time starts now.
